Another pair of fingerless gloves

I have a cream colored scarf that I already own that my parents gave to me a couple of years ago for Christmas. I had leftover cream colored yarn from making an afghan a couple of years ago for a fundraiser at my old job at Woodfords, as well as from when I made Chris his blanket for Christmas this year (which he loves by the way). So, I decided to make myself another pair of fingerless gloves with the yarn to match the scarf. Of course, I was pleased with the result :-)

Back to knitting

I'm trying knitting again. My hand has started feeling better and frankly, I can't just sit and watch TV and do nothing. I don't have ADD, but I need to keep my hands for some odd reason. Might also be why I take notes in classes where the teachers post the slides online. I just can't sit there and do nothing.

I'm finishing up another pair of fingerless gloves for myself (to match a white scarf that I have) and then I am making a pair for the lovely Clare! Does anyone else want a pair of these before the winter is out? They are perfect because they keep your hands, and arms, warm and you're still able to use your smart phone!

Taking a break

Hi all....

I am taking a short break from doing any serious knitting. I've been having problems with my left thumb joint that I believe is attributed to the knitting, and almost feels like tendinitis (described it to Chris last night and he agrees with me). My mom has had the same problems in the past when she has done a lot of knitting.

Of course, I am not a doctor, and neither is he, but I think that the best thing that I need to do is just give it a rest. I haven't done any knitting in about a week and it is starting to feel better. It is amazing what rest does to you! I'm almost done with a second pair of fingerless gloves, I believe that I am going to be making a pair for my friend Lyndsey, and then I am hopefully going to be making a blanket for Relay for Life as another raffle prize for someone. I also have a couple of other projects up my sleeve that I am thinking about making but am not 100% sure yet.

I will return, don't you worry.

Off-the-shoulder Sweater

I wore the off-the-shoulder sweater last night again (second time). And of course I forgot to get a picture. Oh well. Definitely next time!

Compliment?

A couple of weekends ago, Chris was hosting an engagement party for our friend Katy and her fiance, Chris. A bunch of Katy's friends from the Portland area were there, one of whom I found out was a knitter. Chris had the green, blue, and white afghan on his couch (Christmas present for him), and this particular friend noticed it and told her husband how much she enjoyed it. I told her that I had made it for Chris for Christmas and she said how much she liked it. She then continued to ask me questions regarding the afgan (where I found it, what kind of yarn I used, etc). A couple of days after that, she emailed me to ask me what size needles I used for it. I guess she is going to be making it! I think that this may be a compliment...

Fingerless gloves!

I had some leftover yarn from making the afghan, and a pattern was included with the yarn for some fingerless gloves. It looked interesting, so I figured I would give it a try. I have a LOT of leftover yarn from previous projects I have done, so I think it will be a good use for them.

Another afghan done

Over Thanksgiving, my mother asked me to knit an afghan for a former neighbor (who I used to babysit for) who is graduating from high school this year. Of course, I accepted.

The afghan is in what most closely resembles his high school colors (they are maroon, black, and gold). Something like this could be a perfect graduation gift for someone who is graduating high school or college!

Blanket done!

Nothing like completing a Christmas present for your parents on Christmas Eve. And in front of them. It's for the master bedroom at Cape Cod (the colors match their bedroom).

Third series of squares done! Chris and I went to see his parents this weekend, as well as meet Baby Annabelle. Chris went hunting with his dad on Saturday, and then had to do some work on his parents' computer, so while he did that and his mom did work for school, I had plenty of time to knit after completing my own homework.

Patchwork afghan

I made a patchwork afghan last year, but never sewed it together or knitted the border. I'm working on another right now and once I get the energy, I will complete both. I'm not really a fan of finishing things which is probably why I never do anything that is really complicated. I'm surprised that I finished Chris's sweater and my sweater, but I think I was excited to get those done.

Anyways, the patchwork afghan is a series of blocks that are knitted in three different colors. Even though the afghan goes with the colors in my current living room, my mom reminded me that it goes with the colors in the master bedroom at Cape Cod. Hint?

Sweater completed!

Hurray! I love the way that it came out and it is super warm too. I want to wear it tomorrow, but a) it is supposed to be raining all day, b) I don't think an off the shoulder sweater would be appropriate to wear to work and c) it is supposed to be warm tomorrow. However, I'm having date night tomorrow with Chris (dinner at his apartment and possibly going out for a drink), so maybe I will wear it then :-) We shall see. Once I do wear it, I will make sure that I take a picture of me wearing it.

This was SUPER easy to make. I did make it a size larger than what I usually wear because it is going to shrink in the dryer. However, unlike Chris's sweater, it didn't come out ridiculously large.



I'm finishing up a patchwork afghan that I actually knitted at the beginning of the year. I just have to piece it together and sew a border on it. Not sure what I am going to do after that. I may do another patchwork afghan though. I had fun making that.

Afghan finished

Finished the blanket! Now it is on to finally finishing the sweater and piecing together another patchwork afghan. Fall is here and winter is coming so it is definitely knitting season.
